The Texas Volts and Oklahoma City Spark traded the first two games of their season-opening series, and the rubber match came down to a single run — this time in the Spark’s favor, 5-4.

Two-way player Aliyah Binford worked in the circle for Texas and took the loss, while also providing a pair of doubles at the plate. Aminah Vega kept her strong start to the season going with a triple, but the Volts’ rallies came up just short against an Oklahoma City club that took two of three in its inaugural home series.

The narrow defeat sent Texas to 1-2 and pointed the team toward the second leg of its season-opening road swing: a long trip east to face the Carolina Blaze.
